UBSU Election Results 2009 All elections results work on the single transferable vote system. All voters had the chance to vote for candidates in an order of preference. For a candidate to win they must get more than half of the votes cast for that role. If this doesn't happen then the lowest candidate is eliminated. Their votes transfer to the voters second choice. This continues until there is a candidate with more than half the votes.
