VP Welfare The VP Welfare is responsible for representing students on welfare issues and organising initiatives which benefit the student body. Key skills and qualities for this role include: - Passion for improving the welfare of students Key Sabbatical Officer responsibilities
Represent students Ø Represent individual students, referring to Advice Centre where appropriate Be a member of the Executive Committee Ø Attend induction and relevant training Communicate with students and promote the Union Ø Be easily contactable by students on all main campuses
- Enthusiasm for running awareness-raising initiatives
Ø Represent students to the University and local community
Ø Attend University Liaison Meeting and Student Consultative Committee
Ø Complete all reporting requirements – to students, the University and outside bodies – relevant to the Officer’s areas of responsibility
Ø Be a trustee of UBSU
Ø Attend Executive meeting monthly and Student Officers’ Committee at both campuses
Ø Lead a priority campaign as identified by the Exec
Ø Work to implement UBSU’s strategic plan
Ø Meet monthly with General Manager to review progress
Ø Comply with UBSU policies as they relate to being an employee of UBSU, including those contained in the Staff and Health & Safety handbooks
Ø Spend time talking to students on the different campuses
Ø Commit to surveying students through Question of the Week and the Annual Student Survey
Ø Act as mentor for designated student officers
Ø Attend Student Representative Councils (SRC), Campus Student Representative Councils (CSRC) and Annual General Meeting (AGM)
Ø Encourage student participation in UBSU activity
Ø Increase numbers of candidates and voters for by- and general elections
Ø Work flexible hours as required to fulfil responsibilities
