Hi
I’m Louise Tadiar and I’m the Welfare and Advice Service Co-ordinator for UBSU. I’ve been in my post for over 5 years now and worked in the University for nearly 15 years before that in Admissions and as a Student Advisor. I guess you could say I’m happy helping students!
After so many years here I have a good understanding that students are just people who happen to be studying. They have the same worries and troubles from time to time as everyone else. I also know that a problem with housing or money or a family problem can have a huge impact on a student’s success at University.
I have done training around sexual health, customer care, drugs and alcohol and housing. Most of what I know is from experience and from contacts that I have made over the years.
There is nothing more rewarding than helping a student work out the best way to resolve their problems or just listening to their worries and seeing them on their way to a great future. That’s what I love about my job. In a way I don’t want to say I hope to see you soon because that may mean you have a problem. What I will say is that if you need a helping hand the service we offer is here for you. We will always do our best to help you.
Good luck with all that you do this year!
Louise

Hello everyone! My name is Evi and I am your Welfare and Advice Caseworker at UBSU. I completed my law degree at UOB and have worked in Luton as a caseworker at the Luton Citizens Advice Bureau. I am packed full of advice and helpful hints to ensure that any problems or issues you encounter during your student life disappear quickly and painlessly.
I’m sure you have already grasped from the job title that my role is to advise on any academic or non academic issues students may come across during their time at university. I deal with any issues so don’t be scared, come visit me! At the very least I am a friendly face and good listener who can refer you onto the people that can help.
I have specialist experience in money advice. I can help you deal with debt issues and other related topics such as housing or benefits. I can also help you through personal issues such as sexual health, pregnancy and academic offences i.e. plagiarism.
I have personal experience of student life and have seen firsthand many of the problems and dilemmas students deal with. I am here to help so whatever you are struggling with save yourself the worry and come see me.

Hello
My name is Paula Mayes and I’m the Welfare and Advice caseworker for the UBSU, I am based at the Polhill Campus. I am new to the SU, but I am very familiar with the University of Bedfordshire as I have been a student here myself for 5 years, I am currently completing the final year of my own part-time study. I also have a background of volunteering within the advice sector.
As a student myself I am in a good position to understand some of the problems faced by students. So should you feel like you need a little help to work out how to resolve any problems or if you just need someone to listen then the UBSU welfare service is here to help you.
Good luck
Paula
